The Curse of Hollowmoor

Attention, fellow Tibians!

Every Halloween the veil between our world and Hollowmoor grows thin. This year something beyond it is gathering the souls of the dead, and the Hollow King wants to drag Hollowmoor into our world. From the server save on Thursday, October 1 until the server save on Sunday, November 1, the whole server can stop him.

Collect Cursed Soul Fragments

From level 50, any creature that gives at least 100 experience can drop Cursed Soul Fragments. The more experience a creature gives, the better your chances. Bring them to Grimwood, who waits in the Thais cemetery, and say deliver. There is no daily limit.

Every fragment counts twice: for your own rewards and for the server's goal of 100,000 souls. Ask Grimwood about your progress, and say rewards to collect what you have earned. The rewards go to your Store inbox:

50 souls5 Halloween Coins
250 soulsa spooky hood
500 soulsa jackgrin backpack
1,000 soulsa Halloween chest (a ghost backpack with 25 Halloween Coins and a wicked witch doll)
2,500 souls50 Halloween Coins and a Hollowmoor candle

The Champions of Hollowmoor

As the server fills the goal, the champions of Hollowmoor break through:

  • 25%: The Pumpkin Butcher. Enter his arena through the portal next to Grimwood. Every 30 seconds he grows Haunted Pumpkins around him. Destroy them within 15 seconds, or they burst, hurt everyone nearby and heal him.
  • 50%: The Witch of Hollowmoor. Same portal. Every 25 seconds she curses two players, and five seconds later a Cursed Reflection with your own looks and your own hit points comes to hunt you. Kill it before it kills you.
  • 75%: The Headless Horseman. He rides out on the outskirts of Thais, Carlin, Venore, Edron, Ab'Dendriel or Kazordoon. Watch the broadcast to find out where.
  • 100%: The Ritual of Hollowmoor. Altars appear in Thais, Carlin, Venore and Edron. Each one needs 500 fragments. Use an altar with fragments in your backpack to feed it. They also count for your own rewards.

When the four altars are full, the seal breaks and a portal to Hollowmoor opens in the Thais cemetery for 30 minutes. Inside waits The Hollow King. He marks players who must step away from the group before the mark explodes. At 60% of his hit points he calls the darkness: while his Haunted Candles burn, he takes 90% less damage. At 25% he starts the Soul Harvest: nothing can hurt him until you kill most of the Lost Souls or the harvest runs out, and every soul that reaches him heals him. Please note: if the portal closes while he is still alive and nobody is inside, he retreats, and the altars must be filled again.

Defeat him and the sky turns red. The Blood Moon lasts 24 hours and gives +10% experience. While it lasts, the Halloween Treasure Goblin can show up when you kill a creature. He runs away after 90 seconds and drops coins while he flees.

Rewards

Everyone who takes a real part in a boss fight gets a reward in the reward chest, no matter if you dealt damage, tanked, healed or handled the mechanics. The Butcher, the Witch and the Horseman give fragments and Halloween Coins. The Hollow King gives 20 to 30 Halloween Coins, a 15% chance of a Halloween chest and a very small chance of the Hollow King's Crown. The four champions can also drop one of eight new Halloween backpacks.

Halloween Coins also drop from creatures while the event runs. Spend them with Grimwood: say trade for the hallowmask backpack (100 slots, 250 coins), Evora (150), spooky hoods, ghost backpacks, witch hats and decorations. He also has specials: the Tainted, Jack's Inferno and Cursed Sigil auras for 500 coins each, and the reaper and hollowstalker exercise dummies for 300 coins.

Open the launcher before you log in so it downloads the new client with the Halloween creatures and items.

Happy Halloween!
